Kara L. B. Connors MS, CCC-SLP
Born and raised in NJ, the milder winters brought Kara south to earn her bachelor degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University. She earned her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology at San Diego State University. With over 12 years experience, Kara's career has taken her from San Diego, CA, to Charleston, SC, to Hong Kong, and back to Virginia. Her clients have ranged from 2-85 years old and given her experience in an extensive range of delays and disorders: articulation, language, augmented alternative communication, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injury, aphasia, dyslexia, apraxia, dysphagia, fluency, and voice. Nationally certified through the American Speech and Hearing Association and licensed in Virginia, Kara specializes in working with children ages 2-12. She believes in a "whole child" approach and a strong collaboration between child, parent(s)/caregiver(s), therapist(s), and teachers. Along with raising her two children, Kara spends her free time baking cookies, hiking, practicing yoga, and enjoying a good cup a coffee. Kara has spent the last few years abroad and really enjoys traveling, although she is happy to be settling into the great city of Charlottesville. Kara sees clients in the Charlottesville location.
