Apricity Hope Project

Apricity Hope Project offers support for caregivers of medically complex children. They offer virtual and in-person meet-ups, as well as retreats for caregivers, and camp Hope Full for families! Check out their blog, and When Autumn Comes podcast.

Camp Light

Summer camp for kids with special needs age 6 and up, located in Waynesboro, Virginia. Kids have the opportunity to fish, swim, garden, make arts and crafts, ride horses, explore nature, engage in outdoor sports, and more! All services are provided at no cost to families. A Fall Corn Maze, and Christmas Wonderland are offered, as well as additional fundraising events throughout the year. Adults 18+ with special needs have opportunities to participate as well.

GOAAT Educational Services

Goal Oriented Animal Assisted Teaching (GOAAT) is a unique educational program provided by educator Mary Jo “MJ” Hollis. Services range from farm visits/tours, to in-home tutoring, animal assisted communication, and educational consultation. Children with learning differences, Autism Spectrum Disorder, communication disorders, or those with seeking to connect with others, may all benefit from animal-assisted learning.

Ride With Pride

Therapeutic riding program for children age 4 and up, located in Staunton, Virginia. Therapeutic riding benefits physical health by increasing muscle coordination and strength, builds social-emotional skills through new relationships, as well as promoting healthy development overall.

Virginia Institute of Autism (VIA)

VIA offers day schools and adult services for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other neurological disorders, in Charlottesville, Roanoke, Lexington, and Forest, Virginia. Day schools are designed to provide a safe learning environment for those ages 6-22 experiencing behavior and learning problems in the public school setting. Adult services are for adults aged 22 and up, providing community coaching, community engagement, and group day support programs.

VIA also offers outpatient behavioral services (Applied Behavior Analysis or ABA) which helps with difficult behaviors, self-regulation, school-readiness, and learning activities of daily living. ABA provides services for children, and parent training, in the home, at school, or in-clinic.
